What is Thermography Printing?

In recent months we have had a huge demand for Thermography Wedding Invitations. We at White Tie Designs feel it is necessary to explain what thermography is and how the process works. Thermography is also often referred to as Raised Ink, and there is a very good reason for that. The finished product features an ink that is elevated off of the paper with a subtle shine to it.  This process typically occurs in a 3 step system.

To start the paper runs through a typical inking process, with slow drying ink, where the ink is applied to the paper. Then it is followed by a powdering process, this is where the magic happens. The powder is applied to the entire project and then the excess is removed. Finally it is flash heated to 900+ degrees for 2-3 seconds. The end product is a nice raised ink.

We do also offer Thermography in other products, not just invitations. We can do almost any stationery product that you can imagine. Save the dates, place cards, menus, programs and much more. It is, however, important to note that thermography can only be printed on one side for your wedding needs.
