For a winter planning session, wording is a useful task to finish before discussing decorative details. A traditional invitation is easier to proof when you treat it as a sequence of information rather than one large paragraph. Begin with the people extending the invitation, followed by the couple and the event itself.

Choose a hosting line that fits your family

A parent-hosted wedding might open with the parents' names. A couple hosting their own celebration can lead with their own names. “Together with their families” offers another option when a list of hosts would be awkward or incomplete. These are wording choices, not a requirement to disclose who paid for each part of the wedding.

Make the essential details unmistakable

Spell out the month to avoid confusion between international date formats. State the ceremony start time accurately; do not print an earlier time as a substitute for an arrival instruction. Include the venue name and enough location detail to identify the correct place. If the reception is elsewhere, explain that on a separate card or a clearly distinguished line.

Together with their families, Jordan Ellis and Avery Morgan invite you to celebrate their marriage on Saturday, the fourteenth of November, at four o’clock in the afternoon.

This is illustrative wording, not a record of a White Tie Designs event. Add your own year, venue and location before using the structure.

Proof the names before the flourishes

Check the spelling and preferred form of every name with the people named. Read the invitation aloud, then ask someone unfamiliar with the plans to tell you where and when they would arrive. If they need an explanation, revise the wording before adding more ornament.
